Slovakia

In Slovakia Danube flows through capital city of Slovakia - Bratislava and Komarno and Štúrovo.

Bratislava

Bratislava_Castle.jpgBratislava Castle is located on a plateu 85 meters above Danube, in the middle of Bratislava. Castle is outstanding feature in the city and from it opens a great view on Bratislava and Austria, when weather is good - you can see also Vienna and Hungary. Many legends are connected to this castle.

Komárno

Komarno.JPGSmall and very beautiful town, I think really worth to see.

Vienna

Dannube is much loved by viennese and also much songs and music has been written about it, starting with famose valtze by Johannes Strauss.

But for tourists Danube in Vienna is a dissapointment as the most visibla part in Vienna is Donaukanal - srtificially build channel. The river itself is further away.

There is Danube Tower to see - it has 150m observation deck and Danube Park.

Linz

Linz is a third biggest city of Austrie and one of the most industrial city of Austria. It is situated on both banks of Danube.

Linz1.jpgOld Urfahr West stretches out along the left bank of the Danube, only a short walk upstream from the city center. Sleepy lanes, beer gardens right along the Danube and pebble beaches for sunbathing - a place to relax.

Linz2.jpg

As a public park between Lentos and Brucknerhaus, the Danube Riverbank offers recreation and relaxation. In the summer, the "bank" is a popular meeting place for the young people of Linz. As a public space of culture it is the setting every year for the Linz "Cloud of Sound", and sculptures by internationally renowned artists are also found here in the "forum metall".

Linz3.jpgThe cultural city of Linz ~ Danube is an ideal starting point for a cruise. In addition to liner cruises, sightseeing and event tours are also offered.

Linz4.jpgFrom twilight to midnight, from Brucknerhaus to the Linz Castle, the bank of the Danube is transformed every evening into a sea of lights. The art project "Lichtblicke" ("Bright Spots") brightly accentuates the characteristic buildings and bridges on the Danube for night owls.

To be continued...
